Copyright Policy
We respect the work of original publishers and journalists. The news we summarize is reported by others, and their reporting, headlines, articles and photos belong to them.
- No reproduction. We do not copy or republish articles, in whole or in part.
- Original summaries. Every story in Canada in 100 Words is written independently by 100.ca, in our own words, and is limited to exactly 100 words.
- Attribution and direct links. Each summary credits the source outlet and, where the article gives one, the author, and links directly to the original article. We encourage readers to read the full story there.
- Canadian law. We aim to respect Canada's Copyright Act, including fair dealing for the purpose of news reporting (section 29.2), which calls for mentioning the source and, if given in the source, the name of the author or publisher.
- Our content. © 2026 100.ca. The original summaries, design and other original content on this site belong to 100.ca.
- Sharing. You are welcome to share individual summaries for personal, non-commercial purposes with a link back to 100.ca. Please do not republish our summaries in bulk or systematically, or use them commercially, without our permission.
- Rights holders. If you believe something here uses your work improperly or contains an error, please contact us at admin@100.ca or through our contact form. We will respond promptly and correct or remove the material.
Privacy Policy
We collect as little as possible and use it only to run this site.
- Visitor counter. The counter in the footer uses no cookies and does not store IP addresses. To count each visitor once per day, it combines the visitor's IP address and browser type with a random value that changes daily and keeps only the resulting scrambled code (a hash). The random value and the codes are deleted each day; only the daily totals are kept.
- Web server logs. Like most websites, our web server keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, page requested and browser type) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are rotated and deleted automatically.
- Email subscriptions. We store only your email address, the sections and provinces or territories you chose, your subscription status, and when you signed up and gave consent. We also record which daily emails have been sent, so no one receives the same briefing twice. If you unsubscribe, your choices are removed and only your address is kept, marked as unsubscribed, so that we do not email you again.
- Contact form. Messages are forwarded by email to the site administrator and are not stored on this website.
- Email delivery. Our emails are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES). The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services.
- No selling or sharing. We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone for marketing.
- Your choices. Every email we send includes links to change your choices or unsubscribe. To have your information deleted entirely, write to admin@100.ca.
Email Policy
- Double opt-in. When you subscribe, we send one confirmation email. Nothing else is sent unless you click the link to confirm, which records your consent and its date.
- Only what you choose. Each daily email contains only the sections and provinces or territories you selected.
- Unsubscribe anytime. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link and a link to change your choices; no login is needed.
- Who we are. Emails are sent by 100.ca (admin@100.ca). We aim to follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
Editorial Policy
- Real news only. Every story is based on reporting by an identified news source or official publication. We never invent news; if a province or territory has no major story on a given day, we say so.
- Our own words. Summaries are written independently and aim to be clear, balanced and accurate.
- Exactly 100 words. Every summary is exactly 100 words, checked automatically before publishing.
- Sources linked. Each story links directly to its original source.
- Corrections. If you spot an error, tell us at admin@100.ca or through the contact form. We will correct it promptly on the site.
