N.B. launches agriculture growth plan and farm climate strategy

New Brunswick launched an Agriculture Growth Action Plan and an Agriculture Climate Change Strategy on Nov. 6 in Keswick Ridge. Agriculture Minister Pat Finnigan said provincial funding, which began at $200,000 in 2025-26, will rise to $2.2 million in 2026-27 alongside federal money, beyond existing programs. The plan targets better use of farmland, processing capacity and new markets, and will help farmers manage drought, soil health and pests. According to a government release, the strategy aims to cut farm emissions by 40 kilotonnes by 2030. Farms produce only about four per cent of provincial emissions, Environment Minister Gilles LePage said.
